No-Oil Whole Wheat Bread

Whole wheat, no-oil homemade bread is a wholesome delight for the health-conscious. Baked with 100% whole wheat flour and without the addition of oil, this bread offers a hearty, fiber-rich texture and a clean, pure taste. It's a guilt-free way to savor the simple pleasure of freshly baked bread while prioritizing your well-being.

Ingredients

4 cups white whole wheat flour

1 package active dry yeast

1 teaspoon sea salt

2 cups plus 1 tablespoon warm water - you may need a little more

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, yeast, and slat in a large bowl.

  2. Add the warm water (not hot) and using a large spatula, stir until well combined, adding an additional tablespoon or two of water as needed. It will be more of a wet dough than a traditional dry dough that you knead. NO kneading here!

  3. Place the dough in a non-stick pan or small round cast-iron dutch oven that has been scantly sprayed with oil. Cover with a dish cloth and let rise for 2 1/2 hours in a warm place. I like to put it in my Breville Smart Oven on the Proof setting.

  4. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Place pan in the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. I like to sprinkle No-Salt Everything Bagel Seasoning on top before baking.

  5. Let cool for 15 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack, then let it cool a bit. Enjoy it warm or at room temperature.
