Swift Baked Beans

Baked Beans 3.JPG

Make it stand oThis is my absolute favorite baked bean recipe that I’ve been making for over 30 years. Modified of course to eliminate the 1 pound of bacon it originally called for. This creation gives you that wonderful old bbq world flavor. In fact, it’s so darn good I’m tempted to enter it in the state fair competition!

Ingredients

1 can Butter Beans, drained and rinsed

1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 can vegetarian style Baked Beans - I use Bush’s Southern Pit BBQ Grillin’ Beans; look for no meat, oil, or corn syrup in the ingredients

1 onion chopped

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup molasses

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, drain and rinse the butter beans and kidney beans.

  2. Saute the onion until tender, using a little water to prevent them from sticking to the pan.

  3. Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl, then transfer to a baking dish.

  4. Bake uncovered for 1 hour.

Serves 6

Note:

These go great with my Carrot Dogs, Black Bean Burgers, or my delicious Ballpark Brats!
