Crispy Tofu Fillets

Easy and super crispy tofu that can be air-fried or oven baked. Made with just a few simple ingredients, this tofu recipe is healthy, high in protein, and incredibly delicious. Ideal for a quick dinner, lunch, or salad addition.

Ingredients

1 - 14 ounce package super firm tofu, drained and sliced into 1/4 inch thick fillets

1 1/4 cups whole wheat panko bread crumbs

1 cup white whole wheat flour or any gluten-free flour

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon herb seasoning blend such as Mrs. Dash

1 cup water

black pepper

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

  1. Add the breadcrumbs to a shallow-rimmed bowl or pie plate and set aside.

  2. In another shallow-rimmed bowl or pie plate stir together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, herb seasoning, and a few grindings of black pepper. Slowly stir in the water and mix well. You may need to add a tablespoon or so additional water; you want a smooth batter, not too thick and not too runny, just enough so the batter sticks to the tofu fillets.

  3. Dip the tofu slices into the batter and then immediately dredge in the bread crumbs. Place on the prepared baking sheet. Continue this process with the remaining tofu and batter.

  4. Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until golden and crispy. These turn out great in an air fryer oven as well, just keep an eye on them as they make bake faster.
