Savory Walnut Spread

Here’s the spread for all times! Thanks to California walnuts we plant-based eaters have an amazing spread to accompany the many delectable items on a charcuterie board. Smear this smooth, rich spread on crackers, raw vegetables, serve with grilled vegetables or baked potato. It’s also delicious on bread layered with your favorite sliced and shredded vegetables, for a yummy open-face sandwich. Best of all, walnuts are rich in those all important omega-3’s!

Ingredients

1 cup raw walnuts

2 garlic cloves, peeled

1 Tbsp low-sodium tamari, low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos

1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Process until you have a rich, creamy texture. Yes, it’s that simple!

  2. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Variations

  • Add 1 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard, this is yummy spread on a Black Bean Burger.

  • For a spicier option, add a couple pickled jalapeno slices, or more based on your liking. Better yet, add fresh jalapeno!

  • Add 1 Tbsp chipotle pepper sauce for a smoky flavor.

  • Love pimento cheese? Add 1 tablespoon diced pimentos or roasted red peppers.
