Authentic Fajita Seasoning

Fajitas.jpg

Have you ever eaten food in another country while thinking you wish you could achieve the same flavor when you return home? Well here it is, the authentic flavor of fajitas from the Baja region of Mexico. While Iā€™m a whole food plant-based eater, you can certainly use this seasoning to marinade meat in addition to vegetables. This seasoning is a staple in my pantry because grilling up veggies makes for a quick and easy meal.

Ingredients

1 Tbsp ground cumin

1 Tbsp chili powder

1 Tbsp paprika

1 Tbsp oregano, regular works fine but Mexican oregano is even better

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

1/2 tsp salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine all spices in a small bowl and give it a good stir, or assemble in a mason jar and give it a shake.

  2. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.

  3. To use seasoning, mix 2 Tbsp of seasoning with 1/3 cup water and the juice from 1/2 lime (about 1 Tbsp). You should marinate for a minimum of 1 hour before cooking. Grill or oven roast.
