Healthy Snacks for Potheads

The next time you get stoned and take a break from whatever Netflix series you’re binging on for a trip to the kitchen, reach for these munchies that are not only satisfying, they’re healthy!

I’m notorious for bringing attention to the elephant in the room so if the topic of cannabis is not your jam, then perhaps this article isn’t for you. For those of you who do imbibe in cannabis smoking, vaping or edible consumption from time to time, I’m here to discuss a problem that is real. Munchies. Who among us hasn’t polished off an entire loaf of bread after making peanut butter toast while stoned? No one, just me? Seriously?

If you know anything at all about cannabis you know that snack foods and getting stoned go hand-in-hand like chips and salsa. For those of you who use cannabis to manage symptoms of chronic illness, or who occasionally partake recreationally, I’m here to offer some easy to make, great tasting snacks to tame the munchies. With a little forethought and preparation before your next cannabis indulgence, be sure your frig and pantry welcome your hungry eyes with healthy options a hands reach away.

Let’s take a look at some fun and easy healthy stoner snacks you might consider before you embark on your next cannabis adventure.

  1. If you simply must grab for chips, be sure to have a bag of organic unsalted tortilla chips on hand along with a good salsa. Better yet, go for a big burst of flavor with this Classic Guacamole or Spicy Nacho Sauce.

  2. Do you remember as a kid making “ants on a log”? Spread a little peanut butter into the rib of a celery stick and sprinkle on golden raisins, and/or dairy-free chocolate chips if you’re feeling like you deserve an extra treat.

  3. There’s nothing better than a big basket of French fries. Yes, you can! Keep it healthy with Air Fryer Potato Wedges dipped in Homemade Ketchup.

  4. Instead of polishing off an entire pint of ice cream or gelato, how about you satisfy your craving with Nice Cream?

  5. The next best thing to ice cream is pudding, specifically Chocolate Chia Pudding.

  6. Sliced apples dipped in peanut butter. Yum!

  7. If you’re one of those who enjoys an overflowing bowl of bite-sized snacks on your lap, how about homemade Granola with Spoon Size Shredded Wheat?

  8. I’m not much of a sweets eater but when I am, brownies are my guilty pleasure and these Better Than Sex Brownies…Oh. My. Goodness!

  9. I just now identified a pattern in my munchies, peanut butter. This Banana Wrap, checks all the boxes when it comes to a sweet and savory snack attack. And since we’re on the topic of bananas, you’re going to love this Chocolate Covered Blueberry Banana Parfait!

  10. If keeping it fresh and crunchy is more your style consider making a Veggie Wrap.

  11. Oh, and let’s not forget a Cheezy Spread on Whole Grain Crackers.

  12. And last but not least, many of the best snacking options that require little to no work when you’re high include air-popped popcorn, California sushi rolls, or a big platter of veggies with hummus and sliced fruit such as watermelon, kiwi, and oranges. And if you must call DoorDash, be sure to order a veggie pizza, extra sauce and no cheese.

Remember to have fun, don’t drive, stay away from social media, and snack responsibly!
