Autumn Equinox-A Time of Balance & Reflection

As we approach the autumn equinox, we’re reminded of the perfect balance between day and night. Spiritually, this moment calls us to pause, reflect, and embrace the balance in our lives. It’s a time to honor both the light and the dark—within ourselves and the world around us.

Here are a few ways to embrace this balance as we move into the fall season:

  • Time for Reflection - Take quiet time to journal your thoughts or meditate on areas of your life that may feel out of sync. Ask yourself where you might need to restore balance—whether in relationships, work-life harmony, health and wellness, or personal goals.

  • Mindful Decluttering - Fall is a great time for both physical and emotional decluttering. As leaves fall and nature begins to let go, consider what things—possessions, habits, or beliefs—you might want to release from your life that no longer serve you.

  • Reconnect with Nature - Take mindful walks in nature to observe the changing season and reconnect with nature, grounding yourself in the present moment. Nature is at its most balanced during the equinox, so grounding yourself by walking, hiking, or simply sitting outside can help restore inner harmony. Remember to remove your shoes and socks and get those feet into the earth for the ultimate grounding experience!

  • Set New Intentions - Fall is a time for harvest, but also for setting intentions for the next season. Reflect on the progress you've made this year and decide what you'd like to focus on as you move into winter. Setting intentions can be incredibly powerful—it's like planting seeds in a garden. When we set clear, focused intentions, we're giving ourselves direction and purpose. As we nurture these intentions with action and positive energy, they begin to bloom into the life we‘re truly intended to live.

  • Balance Nourishment - In line with my whole-food, plant-based lifestyle, balancing your diet by integrating seasonal foods like winter squashes, root vegetables, and warming spices is important. These nourishing foods can support your body’s transition into the cooler months.

  • Create Daily Rituals - Consider simple daily routines like tai chi, breathwork, oracle card readings, or meditation to promote balance and peace in your life. These simple practices help you center yourself, connect with your inner wisdom, and set the tone for a mindful, grounded day to find harmony between action and rest as we prepare for the quieter, introspective season ahead.

  • Build a Bonfire: Lighting bonfires as a way to release the old and welcome the new season. A bonfire symbolizes warmth and transition.

  • Cultivate Emotional Balance - As the days get shorter it’s common to feel mood shifts. Engage in practices that help you stay emotionally centered, such as gratitude journaling or spending time with your tribe sharing meaningful conversation.

By embracing the themes of balance, grounding, and reflection, you can align yourself more closely with the energies of the fall equinox and carry that harmony forward into the new season.
